When Roschelle Bukus, Inspector at the Mooi River & District branch of the SPCA, received an urgent call about a kitten stuck in a roadside electricity box, she rushed to the scene.
However, local businessmen Ismail Suliman and Kismet Budhu, along with two members of the town’s Fire Department, were already valiantly trying to extricate the traumatised little creature.
‘The feral kitten was obviously looking for shelter and some form of security, and had tried to get into the electricity box, says Roschelle.
‘Mr Suliman and Mr Budhu, and the local Fire Department, worked long and hard to save the stressed kitten from what may have been a horrible death.
Despite having a copper pipe lodged around its middle, the ginger kitten was eventually removed and taken into the Care of the SPCA. Roschelle is very grateful to the men for their concern and their help. The community are our ears and eyes.
