Cycle The Hill’s For The SPCA – Cycle Tour Challenge

Not satisfied with just entering and competing in the 2010 Pick n Pay / Cape Argus Cycle Tour, 74 year old veteran cyclist Maisie Swoboda has taken up the challenge to “Cycle the Hill’s for the SPCA”.

A long standing volunteer and supporter of the Cape of Good Hope (CoGH) SPCA, Maisie has finished the last 25 Argus Cycle Tours and hopes to use her 26th race to support the SPCA’s efforts to help abused and neglected animals.

“I’m passionate about cycling and animals and want to combine them to make a difference for the SPCA”, said Maisie. “I’m delighted that I’ve already been joined in this challenge by Head of Veterinary Services for the Western Cape, Dr Gininda Msiza and 12 other animal-loving cyclists. We hope to make a real difference for this worthwhile cause”, she said.

However, unlike the huge effort these cyclists will need to complete the 109km race, it’s very easy to support their endeavour. “Simply log onto www.doit4charity.co.za  and click on Maisie Swoboda or any of the other riders doing the Cycle the Hill’s for the SPCA Challenge,” says Hill’s Pet Nutrition’s Managing Director, Rina Cronwright.

The cyclists doing the Hill’s/SPCA cycle challenge will be wearing their SPCA cycling shirt. Look out for them on race day and give them a cheer.

Riders can also order SPCA cycling shirts directly from the SPCA, or purchase them from the SPCA stand at the Cycle Tour Lifecycle Expo (Good Hope Centre, Cape Town, 11 to 13 March).
